We want to make our homes look beautiful and sometimes we go overboard adding so many things to the space creating a chaotic sense of energy. I have observed South Asians settled abroad in US or Canada have a special love for their cultural handicraft decorative pieces such as elephants, camels, dolphins, birds, lion, horses, eagle, turtle, love birds, mini traditionally dressed figures, colorful wall or door hangings, murals, clay decorative, yantras, and sometimes other religious decors in their homes along with some American and Canadian local decors. The most important reference for understanding the basic connection of each of these decor series is focusing on the colors with their respective elements and direction for their placements. We randomly pick a decor and place it anywhere in the house hope these suggestions will help you redefine your homes and help you enjoy its balanced energy.

SERIES 5/11 Handicrafts and traditional decor display, murals and more.

1. We also have to understand the logic of any decor and its relative presences in the real life resemblance for instance, elephant represents strength, individual power and also known as gajalakshmi so if you need strength and power it is best suggested in South direction facing North while attracting prosperity we place it vice versa.

2. Love birds, Cupids, Dolphins or any pair of birds should be placed in the romance zone which is North of Northwest direction to keep the attraction alive in a couple or Southwest direction if you need stability, strength, understanding and acceptance in the relationship.

3. Shree yantra is one of the frequently seen yantra’s in homes these days, depending on the colors used it should be wisely displayed. Red/Green colored yantra portraits can be used in Southeast direction to invoke prosperity. If it is displayed in the North, East or Northeast direction then it should be only Green color combination.

4. Wild animals should be generally avoided, but I have notice it been used at the entrance gates or at the main door such lions. Ancient vedic vastu does not have mention of these but they have been used during the ancient times when there were kingdom and huge palaces. But I have seen its display still being followed in some homes in Canada. Lions are best suited for South direction since it represents power and strength which is the similar qualities of this direction. It should be avoided for other directions or used in a very balanced form to make the house peaceful and energy center.

5. Eagle figures are displayed in American homes being an emblem, it represents freedom, farsightedness, sharp vision and majestic appearance. Wholistic living space suggests keeping it in the skills zone which is Southwest ideally.

6. Reindeer or deer are often used during Christmas by most of the families while decorating Christmas trees varying in sizes outdoor as well as indoor. It is best suggested in West direction if you don’t intent keeping it seasonal.

7. Turtle or Tortoise slow and steady wins the race… attitude, never give up…keep on going in every aspect of the life can be achieved by introducing it in the West or East direction.

8. Chariot of horses is quite commonly seen in house being used as decorative figures or wall frames. They are recommended in Northwest of North direction when white in color whereas South direction in case of red colored.

9. Most South Asian families prefer decorating the front door of the house with colored flowers, torans, decorative wreaths, door hangings, traditional lucky charms and auspicious symbols for creating a positive energy field for prosperity and good luck.
